“M’m! M’m! Good! M’m! M’m! Good!” That’s what Campbell soups are “M’m! M’m! Good!” Yes, they are good, but when John Thompson-Dorrance was hired as a chemist at the Campbell Soup Company, he realized that it cost a lot of money to ship these soups to stores because one ingredient was so heavy. That ingredient was water! Dr. Thompson-Dorrance found a way to take the water OUT of the soup, so that the can would weigh less and shipping charges were lower. Then the customer could buy it at the store, take it home, and put the water back in. He had invented condensed soup!
